"Treating surgery as an isolated event rather than a continuous journey leaves patients unprepared. We designed a way to bridge that gap."
Surgical care is often treated as a fragmented, isolated procedure. Patients transition from hospitals to home recovery with limited visibility for care teams, often leading to poor outcomes. physiological stress response dictates recovery, yet patients are frequently left unprepared.

To move from ambiguous clinical data to a human-centered solution, we mapped the "Surgical Stress Journey." The process began with hand-drawn architectural flows to identify where communication breaks down between the patient, the care team, and the recovery process.
We ruled out direct to consumer platforms and software-only logging tools. To drive clinical outcomes, we chose a B2B SaaS model that integrates biometric hardware into hospital workflows, aligning patient health with financial incentives.
AVEXIA reframes surgery as a managed lifecycle. The platform provides guided preparation: nutrition, hydration, and mental readiness, while using wearable hardware to capture objective physiological data for clinical teams. Recovery includes enhanced bio analysis to track progress and compliance as well as support and guidance.
AVEXIA is a comprehensive ecosystem that guides patients and care teams through the surgical lifecycle using three technology layers:
To test viability, we modeled financial impact against key levers: reducing length of stay and preventing repeat surgeries. Our model projected an average savings of $3,032 per procedure. We proposed a phased pilot for the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute to gather real-world efficacy metrics.
The Interface: A holistic care plan providing physical, mental, and emotional preparation guidance.
Ideation Process: Mapping touchpoints from surgical recommendation through long-term recovery.

The Surgical Lifecycle: Pre-op readiness (breathing, hydration, metrics) and post-op monitoring (EEG and recovery braces).
Integrated Tech: Capturing objective data through ECG, EEG, and 9-Axis IMU sensors.
Strategic Framework: Identifying key partners and aligning cost structures with provider value propositions.
